A Campfire Story

Authors note-I heard this at a campfire and I couldn't remember all of it so I'm adding things to it. I was trying to write a scary story and I don't really know if it's that scary but it was an attempt.

I was in the basement of our old house and it was lit by a lightbulb hanging from the cieling. Nobody liked going down there because it was an old creepy unfinished basement but I had to go down to do laundry. Going back to the stairs I walked across the cold cement floor and ran into a huge black grey cobweb hanging down from the cieling. Quickly I tore it off my face and started quickly walking towards the stairs hoping that if I went fast nothing bad would happen.

Finally I was at the top of the stairs but as soon as I got there I heard my phone ringing from downstairs. I forgot it and now I have to go back down! Slowly I creeked open the door and took one step down the stairs with a terrible feeling that something horrible was going to happen. With one look around I decided that nothing bad was going to happen and I was just being paranoid so I took another slow step. Out of nowhere a girl with torn tattered clothing and deep red blood splatter on her sheet white face came running towards the stairs.

My heart skipped a beat and I didn't know anything else to do but run! Not very gracefully I turned around and tried to get back to the top of the stairs but I tripped over the top stair. As my heart beat rappidly like a dogs tail thumping back and forth she crawled like the grudge up the stairs and grabbed at my legs to try to pull me down the stairs but I held on to the top and closed my eyes tightly. After a few seconds it obviously wasn't going to go away so I opened my eyes to find myself in my own bed, maybe I was dreaming, but I still felt her or it scratching at my legs. There was nothing I could do so I decided I would try to go back to sleep.

Once I woke up everything was back to normal and nothing was wrong. I went to the basement stairs and peered through the crack in the door. Nothing was there so I opened it completely and stepped down a stair. Taking a step down to the second stair I looked around and everything was the same, nothing was different but then I looked at the stairs and there was a drop of blood that was smeared across the step that I was standing on last night.

A few days later I stayed up late on the computer and forgot to turn the monitor off before I fell asleep. The little green button of light was the only thing lighting up my room. For some reason when I woke up I shot up in my bed and looked straight at the computer. At first my eyes were cloudy from sleeping but I looked down at the desk. There were feet that were up on my desk so I rubbed my eyes and checked again. They were still there and I looked down farther and sure enough there was the same girl sitting in my chair smilling an eery smile at me.

I got up and ran to the light switch to turn it on and when I turned back around she was gone. She had dissapeared into thin air. If she hid then where did she go? There was no closet and not much furniture in my room and no hiding places I could think of. I looked around. Everything was normal and nothing seemed different but my chair had moved during the night. When I went to sleep it was facing me now it was facing the desk. Nobody else was here to move it because it's winter break and they're all home to visit their families and I wasn't going to leave until tomorrow but I need to get out of this house so I left.

I had a completely normal time at my families house and I didn't see the girl again yet I had to wonder where she went. Maybe it's better not to know but I still wonder where she could've gone or maybe it was just my imagination. It couldn't be though, because the chair had been moved. There was no air conditioning turned on and all of the windows were closed so what else could it be?

A few days later I was back at my house and my roomates were still visiting their relatives. I was terrified to be there by myself but where else could I go? I had to stay there, in my house. The first day was normal and I did everything the same. Nothing happened but it was quiet.. Too quiet... Slowly but still, days went on and my roomates came back. I was so excited to see them because that meant that I didn't have to be in our house alone anymore. I went to sleep that night with a wierd feeling in my stomach.

I woke up inside of a circle made of stones and the dirt ground below me was damp and cold. Where am I? While sitting up I looked around thinking that I was alone but I definately was not. There were shadows moving all around and torches floating in the air like invisible people were carrying them. I looked around and noticed I was sitting right in the center of a fire pit. Now the world was blurring around my head at what seemed a million miles per hour and the torches were getting closer until they were in the fire pit. How am I spinning?! I'm not moving at all.

I feel the fire on my skin now. Starting at my feet and slowly the hot flames swim up my legs and up to my arms. All I can see now is black. Everything is black. Swiftly, I closed my eyes tightly preparing for death and the pain wasn't going away. I was starting to see a bright light through my eyes, but it was probably just the angry fire licking it's flames around me. When nothing was stoping and it seemed i would be here forever I opened my eyes again to find myself in my room. Once I knew this, I figured out that the light I saw was the sun coming in from the window. It was just a dream, but your not supposed to feel things like that in a dream. Excited that I was back to my room I looked around , but as I looked around my eyes stopped on my chair.

A sound that was ear splitting was coming from the chair as it slowly spun in a circle creaking a low terrible sound. Nobody was in my room. Nobody was in the rest of the house. Nobody was anywhere to be found. Nobody human touched the chair.
